Red Cliffs Range – CMP Pistol
Red Cliffs Rifle & Pistol Range As Issued 1911 Pistol & Military/Police Service Pistol Match Intent and Spirit: The intent of CMP Games As-Issued Pistol Match rules is to provide pistol competitions where competitors can use original, as-issued or replica military or police type semi-automatic pistols. The spirit of these pistol matches is to offer competitions that are restricted to issue or stock pistols without specialized accurizing features. This is to ensure that the pistols used are affordable and accessible to the greatest possible numbers of competitors. Any pistol configuration or item of equipment that is not mentioned in these rules or that is contrary to the intent and spirit of these rules is prohibited. Location: Red Cliffs Rifle & Pistol Range, 1044 S Shooting Sports Park Road, Hurricane, UT 84737 Bay A-7. Dates: Nov. 1 & Dec. 6, 2025 and Jan. 3, Feb. 7, Mar.7, Apr. 11, 2026. Time: 08:00 a.m. Note: The last match on April 11, 2026 will be a CMP sanctioned match with awards provided by the CMP to the top shooters. Cost: RCRPR Members: $10.00, Non-Members: $20.00 person/day. The fees for the CMP sanctioned match on April 11 will be: Members: $15.00, Non-Members: $25.00. Relays: Two relays will be fired, one for each type of firearm listed below. You may choose to fire one or both relays. Firearms As-Issued M1911 Pistol, Cal. .45 ACP: The pistol must be a U. S Armed Forces issue M1911 cal. .45 ACP pistol or a commercial pistol of the same general type and caliber. The pistol must comply with the following requirements. a) The pistol must be in as-issued or “factory stock” condition, with standard grips, sights that are not readily adjustable (i.e., would require tools and special effort) and without specialized match conditioning or accurizing features; b) The pistol must generally conform to the weight and dimensional specifications of the standard-issue service pistol; c) Re-barreling with a barrel of the same type and length as the M1911 barrel is permitted; d) Only government-issue parts or government or commercial parts of the same general weight and dimensions may be used; e) The trigger pull must be at least 4 lbs. Trigger shoes are not permitted; f) Only 7-round magazines with no extensions or magazine bumpers may be used; and g) It is the intent of this rule that reasonable flexibility must be applied in determining if the pistol is an M1911-type pistol within the spirit and intent of this rule. Military & Police Service Pistol Pistols must be semi-auto pistols that are practical or suitable for issue as a military or police service pistol. The pistol must comply with the following requirements: a) Pistol calibers cannot be smaller than 9 mm or larger than .45 cal.; b) Barrels may not be more than five (5) inches in length; c) Pistols must have a single or striker action trigger pull of not less than 4.0 lbs. (Glock and Springfield Armory XD pistols with barrels no longer than five (5) inches are permitted); d) Pistols may not be match conditioned; and e) Pistols must be equipped with standard issue sights that are not readily adjustable (i.e., would require tools and special effort). Ammunition Competitors may use any safe ammunition appropriate for the pistol being fired. CenterFire Benchrest Match Main Range Closed to Public for Event Saturday February 7th. 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Centerfire score match 5 targets at 100 yards and 5 targets at 200 yards. Main Range. Total 10 targets and 50 rounds for record.$40. Non-record Shooters welcome! Limit five. 100 yd only. Hunter, AR-15, etc. $10 one half day $15 all day. Lunch provided. Award ceremony follows.
